Summer Tournament 2023 - Results

After the little break from our annual tournament, which was forced by COVID, we held our summer tournament again in 2023.
The number of entries exceeded our expectations, despite the short notice and the drop in membership numbers compared to 2019.
Like in 2018 and 2019, this year we also had many players joining the tournament, 23 overall.
This year we had no withdrawals and only one game could not be played by the end of the tournament, which did not affect the results.
The results have been sent to ECF for grading and should show up in the next month gradings as usual.
Summer Tournament Results:
- Championship ended up in a tie, the winners were Lars Astrom and Tanguy Deflesselle, with 4.5 points out of 5. Both of them won all their games and drew only one against each other, so the tie break points are also the same.

- Neumann Cup has been won by Soumen Roy, with an impressive 5 points out of 5.

- Silver King winner was Sandeep Sandhu, with 4 points out of 5. Francis Rooney had a chance to snatch the top spot from him, but in the last game they drew against each other, and Sandeep managed to keep his top position.

- Silver Queen had been won by Joshua Luis.
There was a fierce fight between two Joshuas, Joshua Luis and Joshua Beckmann. Both of them had 3 points at the end, but Joshua Luis managed to win against Joshua Beckmann and won by tie break points.

Congratulation for all the winners. We had many great and exciting games with fierce fights at the end to decide the winners.

The Club mourns the loss of two honorary members: Tony Raven, a dedicated former Secretary and long-time member, and Jimmy Adams, a formidable top-board player and acclaimed chess author.
