The 2023 Ladder Game season turned out to be really popular. We had 23 players participating and whopping 44 played games.
The winner was Sandeep Sandhu.
(At the end Thomas Rushton was at the top, but did not have the required minimum games.)
For the upcoming season the rules would be more or less the same as last time. I am going to extend on the "challenge and refuse" rules. We will try to take it a bit more seriously.
Key points:
- All players are put in order (Ladder) and the one who ends up at top wins the tournament.
- You can challenge a player up to certain (to be decided) rungs above your position. (e.g.: let's say the rule is 5 and Bob is on the 11th rung, so he can challenge the 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th and 6th player)
- On a chosen day the two players play an ECF rated game and depending on the outcome the challenger goes up or stays where he/she is.
- All games are played at the club, on club nights, starting at 18:30
- Time control is by default 75 minutes + 15 second increment, but if both players agree it can be 20 minutes + 5 second increment.
- Tournament starts 1st October and runs until 31st August next year.
The full set of rules are going to be circulated when we start the tournament.
Entries for the new ladder accepted from today until 4th October for all club members who have active ECF membership.
A new ladder will start from 10th October, I will try to publish the list on the 5th.
(New players can join after 10th, but they will have to start at the bottom of the Ladder by default.)
It is a great opportunity to have rated games against other club members in a friendly environment.
Please let me know if you would like to play or you have any questions.
Kind Regards,
